Paco Pelaez + Mike Moonen The Gnominator

Paco Pelaez and Mike Moonen joined forces for The Gnominator, an exhibition built around a playful universe of gnomes, characters and storytelling. Drawing, illustration, animation, objects and graphic imagery come together in a world that moves freely between art, humour and imagination.
At the centre of the exhibition is the character Blödi and the children’s book Kobold Blödi zoekt een huis, illustrated by Pelaez and Moonen. Alongside the book, The Gnominator expanded into animation, screen-printed and embroidered works and specially created merchandise, turning S.A.C.80 into an immersive and deliberately unconventional environment.

The exhibition concluded with a special programme in which visitors became part of this world. A live gnome model dra- wing session invited children and adults to draw together, accompanied by gnome-sized pancakes and drinks. In this way, The Gnominator extended beyond the exhibition itself, bringing drawing, performance, participation and play together in one shared experience.
